Diamine — Vivaldi   Ink Review #  124   Originally posted on FPN:  Apr 24, 2024   Ink:  Vivaldi Series:  Music. Brand:  Diamine Country:  United Kingdom Availability:  30 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Pilot F3A (Japanese EF, semi-flex), Lamy Safari (EF, F, M, B, 1.1) Description Thanks to @Lithium466 for the sample. This review is in three parts. Feel free to jump to your preferred section. In a nutshell:  a gorgeous dark purple that is almost black with EF nibs. It doesn’t appreciate cheap paper. It’s wet and well lubricated. It’s a Diamine. What’s in a name? It comprises three Baroque composers: Bach, Vivaldi and Handel; two Classical-era composers: Mozart and Beethoven (poor Haydn was apparently cancelled); and five Romantic composers: Schubert, Chopin, Wagner, Tchaikovsky and Strauss. Technically, you could argue that Schubert is an early Romantic composer and Tchaikovsky a late Romantic composer. Then there is Strauss, whom I as...

Octopus Fluids Write & Draw — Meerkat Grey   Ink Review #  123   Originally posted on FPN:  Apr 17, 2024 Ink:  Meerkat Grey Brand:  Octopus Fluids Write & Draw Country:  Germany Availability:  50 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Stub, Lamy Safari (EF, F, M, B, 1.1), Osmiroid Copperplate flex nib. Description I’m not sure why Octopus spelled meerkat as “Merkat.” I’m sure the meerkats won’t mind. Here is the list of complete line up: https://www.octopus-office.de/shop/en/creative-inks/write-draw-ink/?p=1 Now to the review. This is a nice, wet, juicy grey, like a 6B pencil. It writes wonderfully with all pens, especially with the Japanese EF nib. It might be too wet for some. It’s waterproof and especially great for sketching and washes. I saw shading with a B nib. But the scanner disagrees and sees it all over the place. Note on Octopus Write & Draw inks:  These are pigmented fountain pen inks, so they are best used in ...

Diamine — Dark Forest   Ink Review #  122   Originally posted on FPN:  Apr 10, 2024   Ink:  Dark Forest Brand:  Diamine Country:  United Kingdom Availability:  40 ml bottles / Cartridges Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy Safari (EF, F, M, B, 1.1), Noodler’s Nib Creaper dipped Description Many thanks to @Lithium466 for the sample. 🙏 This is a dependable dark green/ teal, part of Diamine's 150th anniversary inks It’s a very well-behaved dark green, especially with a Japanese EF nib. From M nibs onwards the colour changes from a dark green to a dark teal.  Shading also appears from M nibs onwards, despite what the scan wants you to believe.  It doesn’t like copy paper. It’s a great ink for washes and surprisingly creates a teal effect, even though I don't see any blue in the chroma: Chroma Writing Samples My apologies for the misspelling. I must have been thinking of another Forrest. 😀 I couldn’t fill the Nib Creaper, so it is n...
