Sold out at several retailers; availability may vary by retailer or marketplace. Pens Used:  Pilot F3A EF, Lamy Safari (EF / F / M / B / Stub 1.1), Waterman W2 vintage flex. 🧾     Description Lennon Tool Bar is a Taiwanese company. Cat General is one of the four 2023 Summer Limited inks. The other three are Bird Monster (green-grey), Catfish Spirit (purple-grey), and Rabbit God (pink). As of March 2025, it was still available from retailers around the world. Current availability is more limited, and it is sold out at several retailers. This was my first foray into Lennon Tool Bar inks. This ink is difficult to define. Everything about it is pen-, paper-, and nib-dependent. On each paper it ...

J. Herbin Vert Réséda — Ink Review #177

J Herbin Vert Réséda Ink Review # 177 Originally posted on FPN: Mar 23, 2025 Ink:  J Herbin Vert Réséda Brand:  J Herbin Country:  France Availability:  10 ml and 30 ml bottles, cartridges. Pens Used:  Pilot F3A soft EF, Lamy Safari (EF / F / M / B / stub 1.1). 🧾  Description From the Herbin website: “Vert Réséda (Green reseda or Green mignonette): réséda is a plant famous for its delightful fragrance.” I honestly don't get the name of this one. It’s a greenish turquoise / malachite. The ink is wet, with below-average lubrication. There’s some shading with a B nib. Ink has little to no water resistance. While the colour might look bright and lovely at a Caribbean resort, I found it too harsh on paper. However, it’s fun for doing ink washes. Dry time was confusing. I wonder if my pen was...

De Atramentis Document Brown (cartridge) Ink Review # 176 Originally posted on FPN: Mar 17, 2025 Ink:  De Atramentis Document Brown (cartridge) Brand:  De Atramentis Country:  Germany Availability:  International short cartridges, 45 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno, Lamy Safari (EF / F / M / B / Stub 1.1), Kanwrite with FPR ultra-flex nib. 🧾  Description I was inspired by a video on six best brown inks for artists to test this ink. I extracted the ink from the cartridges and filled the Safari. The first day, ink was slightly sluggish, and lubrication was below average. The second day the flow was better, and the lubrication excellent. The same was true for the Kanwrite Desire with the Ultraflex FPR nib. It made a Pilot Kakuno scratchy nib sing. I liked it so much that I am at my fourth cartridge now. If I were to buy a bottle, though, I would go for Document Sepia or maybe one of the Octopus inks. It was amazing on copy paper; even an ultra-wet...
