Sailor Shikiori Sasabune   Ink Review # 226   Originally posted on FPN: Feb 05, 2026 --- 🧾  Description   Ink:  Sailor Shikiori Sasabune Available:  20 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Osmiroid Copperplate nib ,  Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1)   Many thanks to @lithium446  for this sample. I am smitten by this ink.    It’s a pale, legible, muted green.    I absolutely love everything about this ink, the gentle shading, hue and how it inspired me to explore Japanese ethos & poetry though art.     The ink surprisingly tames the scratchy ultra-extra-fine nib of my Osmiroid, but it was slightly scratchy with the Lamy Safari. If you have wet pens and soft nibs, it would be a better match.   The shading is gorgeous. This is an ink for @namre.    I won’t recommend it for copy paper; you’ll have some show/bleed-through.    If I didn’t already have enough greens in this shade, I would...

Sailor Manyo Ukikusa    Ink Review # 223   Originally posted on FPN: Jan 21, 2026   ---   🧾   Description Ink:  Sailor Manyo Ukikusa Available:  50 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ Stub 1.1), Flex.   Many thanks @lithium for the sample.    A bright green by Sailor. Ink has below average lubrication. Has some shading. No water resistance and not suitable for copy paper.    As I’m not a fan of bright greens, I wouldn’t say anymore.  :D      ---   🧪   Chroma   ---   ✍️   Writing Samples (scan) Note: Translations/paraphrases into English are AI-assisted. Sailor Storia Mix Red — Ink Review #139

Sailor Storia Mix Red   Ink Review #  139   Originally posted on FPN:  Aug 7, 2024   Ink:  Storia Mix Red Brand:  Sailor Country:  Japan Type:  Pigment ink.  Availability:  20 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Lamy (Reverse EF /EF/F/M/B, BB), Noodler’s Nib Creaper. Description The sample was gifted by a generous FPGEEKs member.  The Storia series consists of eight pigment inks made by Sailor. Sailor has another Storia series, making this lineup quite confusing. While this ink looks like an eye-searing red nail polish in the vial, in reality, it's some sort of watermelon red. It has good lubrication. Shading is high, especially on Japanese paper. The ink is excellent on copy paper.  In washes, it’s watermelon pink-red. Chroma Writing Samples (scan) As the ink was well-lubricated and wet, I create a “Japanese” EF by reverse writing. Sailor — Shikiori Shimoyo   Ink Review # 8   Originally posted on FPN:  Jan 10, 2021   Ink:  Shikiori Shimoyo Brand:  Sailor Country:  Japan Availability:  20 ml bottle. Pens Used:  Vintage Conway Stewart 330 - Oblique nib Description I had the opportunity to try a sample of this thanks to @A Smug Dill . I'm not a Sailor convert yet. While I found the color intriguing and the ink pleasing to use, it looked nicer scanned than in real life. It was a bit of a pain to clean the pen. Probably it would have been much easier if I’d used a modern pen. Chroma Writing Samples Whimsical written samples and whacky drawings. Midori Comparison Ink Characteristics ·        Shading:  Yes, with a flex nib. ·        Ghosting:  A bit. Though with a wet oblique nib, you cannot expect less. ·        Bleed through:  None. ·        ...
