Jacques Herbin Orange Indien   Ink Review # 243   Originally posted on FPN: Apr 30, 2026   --- 🧾  Description   Ink:  Orange Indien (Indian Orange) Brand:  Jacques Herbin Country:  France Availability:  10 ml, 30ml, 100 ml bottles; Cartridges.    Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1), Vintage Sailor flex.      As of this date all Les Perles des Encres, J Herbin inks are marketed as Jacques Herbin.    This is a bright reddish orange, with subtle shading. It doesn’t like copy paper and will bleed through it, but it has very decent water resistance. Dry times can be from short to long depending on the wetness of the pen, nib size and paper.   Cleaning was surprisingly easy.    Overall, I was happily surprised by the ink’s decent behaviour and colour, even though orange ain’t my colour.    ---   🧪  Chroma   ---   ✍️  Writing Sa...

Ban Mi Macaron Rose   Ink Review # 242   Originally posted on FPN: Apr 26, 2026    --- 🧾  Description   Ink:  Macaron Rose Brand:  Ban Mi Country:  China Bottle size:  15 ml Availability:   1 5 ml bottles from Aliexpress or similar outlets.  Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1),  Jinhao 450 fude nib,  Brause dip pen.       Macaron Rose is a pale pink from Ban Mi’s waterproof pastel series. The ink comes in a tiny 15 ml bottle reminiscent of nail polish.      Despite the hot pink colour in the converter and bottle, the ink is illegible with most nibs.  Lubrication is slightly below average. Cleaning was more or less easy, though I didn’t keep the ink for long in my pens. Because it’s a waterproof ink and uses a pink dye, both notorious clingers, I soaked the feeds in cleaning solution for good measure.     I did not enjoy wr...

Jinchen FenFang / Fragrance — Ink Review #241

Jinchen Fragrance (FenFang)   Ink Review # 241   Originally posted on FPN: Apr 23, 2026    ---   🧾  Description   Ink:  FenFang (Fragrance) Brand:  Jinchen Country:  China Bottle size:  18 ml Pens Used:  Pilot Elite EF,  Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1), Hongdian Forest Blade nib, Ahab with a FPR flex nib. Available:  18 ml bottles from AliExpress.   I don’t know how to describe this colour. The base, depending on the paper, nib, and wetness, is a bright to muted plum or rosewood, with a hint of brown. It is a well-behaved ink on copy paper, though only with firehose flex nibs will it have undesirable woolly lines and bleed-through (on Rhodia and Iroful too).   However, on Japanese paper it shows its true colours: a brilliant apple-green sheen. When rinsing the pen, both green and purple tones were visible in the water, suggesting multiple dyes, even if the chromatography does not clearly separate them...
