Noodler's — Kuprin   Ink Review # 25   Originally posted on FPN:  Dec 30, 2021   Ink:  Kuprin Series:  Russian Series Type:  Bulletproof Brand:  Noodler's Country:  USA Availability:  3 oz/ 90 ml bottles. Russian Series inks are more expensive than standard bulletproof inks. Pens Used:  Noodler’s Ahab semi-flex, Kaweco Perkeo F, Jinhao (M, fude) Description This is a rich garnet color, an homage to the Russian novelist Aleksandr Kuprin. The color, I assume, is a nod to one of his short stories, the Garnet Bracelet, a sentimental story of unrequited love. The ink is a deep, warm burgundy. I found it much more pleasant with soft, smooth nibs and a light touch. Chroma Writing Samples Some snippets from the Garnet Bracelet on Midori – Fude, F nibs. Tomoe River 68 gsm Note:  Tomoe River used here is 68 gsm, not the thinner 52 gsm version commonly referenced in reviews. Apica F, M nibs Comparison Water Test Artwork And here is a whim...

Russian series inks are more expensive than standard bulletproof inks. Pens Used:  Noodler’s Ahab/ Lamy Safari B Description This ink was originally a light orange or butterscotch and is now a light pastel pink.  It is one of the subtlest and softest inks I have ever used and one of the best inks, I've ever tried period. It brings me silent joy. From what I've tried and tested, I really like the Russian Series inks in general. They are well-behaved, easy to clean and water-resistant. They have also rekindled my passion for reading poetry! You can read about Anton Chekhov here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_Chekhov I assume the ink is a nod to the Cherry Orchard. The ink shades delightfully with B and flex nibs. ...

Pens Used:  Lamy Safari (B) Description This was part of a blind test on FPGeeks website.  Squeteague is an Indigenous name for the weakfish, native to the northeastern coast of North America. The color is inspired by the teal spots found on the fish’s head and back. It is a delightful ink for those who enjoy dark teals with shading and who don’t mind very long dry times or regularly use blotters. The ink has decent water resistance. Noodler's — Esenin   Ink Review # 22   Originally posted on FPN:  Dec 12, 2021   Ink:  Esenin Series:  Russian Series. These inks are more expensive than the regular Noodler’s lineup.  Type:  Bulletproof, Fluorescent.  Brand:  Noodler's Country:  USA Availability:  90 ml bottles Pens Used:  Kaweco Perkeo F, Kanwrite ultra-flex Description In general, most of the Russian Series inks are some of the best “bulletproof” inks I’ve tried, and Esenin is in that category. I’ve been enjoying this eye-searing ink for quite a while. Sergei Esenin also transliterated as Yesenin was a Russian poet. His works can be described by his quote: “ The Empress told me my poems were beautiful, but sad. I replied, the same could be said about Russia as a whole. ” It is purported that his last poem was written with his blood when he couldn’t find ink in his hotel room.  Hence the ink’s reddish eye-searing color.  With an F nib it has an...
