Octopus Write & Draw Orange Skunk   Ink Review # 215   Originally posted on FPN: Nov 29, 2025   ---   🧾  Description Ink:  Write & Draw Orange Skunk Brand:  Octopus Country:  Germany Available:  10- or 50-ml bottles worldwide. Pens Used:  Pilot Osmiroid Copperplate (UEF/Flex nib), Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ Stub 1.1).   Octopus Write & Draw Skunk is part of three orange pigment inks made by Octopus. The other two are Monkey & Bunny. If it’s an orange colour, it’s an unusual colour, more like a muted pink. It’s pale, but legible, best suited for M and above nibs.  Ink has below average lubrication with all nibs. Flow is average.   Ink has moderate bleed-through and low show-through on copy paper.  There’s shading but mostly with M, B, and flex nibs.    Cleaning was ok. But I used the pen jacuzzi, for peace of mind.    Color is difficult capture, but it’s quite close to Herbin Rouil...

Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1) , Kanwrite Desire with FPR Ultraflex nib.   One of three oranges from the Write and Draw series, waterproof and lightfast. According to the Octopus website these inks were developed with Kaweco and Diplomat pens.  Ink is a bright-ish orange (depending on the paper), with some shading and short dry times. Ink has below-average to average lubrication depending on the nib size. There is ghosting and bleed-through on copy paper.  If you let the ink dry in your pen, you’ll regret it. For cleaning, one would need both cleaning solution and a pen jacuzzi. This is a close-up of the fe...

Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF,  Kaweco Sport (EF/F/M/B/BB/stub 1.9) , Noodler’s Nibcreaper fitted with a Waterman M2 flex nib. This is gorgeous, well-lubricated, wet navy ink with silver shimmer. Dry times are quite short on Rhodia. It’s excellent on copy paper with most nibs, but there’ll be some bleed-through with wet pens.    The 1798 series celebrates the date Herbin started making inks.    The shading is most striking on all the Japanese papers shown below.    ---   🧪  Chroma   ---   ✍️  Writing Samples (scan) JEF stands for Japanese EF nib.
