Rohrer & Klingner — sketchINK Carmen   Ink Review #  92   Originally posted on FPN:  Oct 27, 2023   Ink:  sketchINK Carmen Brand:  Rohrer & Klingner Country:  Germany Availability:  50 ml Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Stub , Kaweco Sport (EF/F/M/B,1.9), Kanwrite with an Ahab nib Description This is another pure orange, waterproof pigment ink. I was quite excited when I started this review. The color seemed promising, however, in the end it was due to the fact that I had not thoroughly cleaned the feed after a previous review. The colour is quite close to Super5 Delhi, which I reviewed prior. I was excited when I saw the reddish blob in the  chroma  but in the end was disappointed by the colour.  Note on pigment inks:  Pigmented fountain pen inks are best used in well-sealed pens that are easy to dismantle. Regular cleaning is advisable, and pen flush may be needed if water alone is not enough. Chroma Writing Sa...

Super5 — Delhi — Ink Review #91

Super5 — Delhi   Ink Review #  91   Originally posted on FPN:  Oct 20, 2023   Ink:  Delhi Brand:  Super5 Country:  Germany Type:  Pigment ink Availability:  30 ml bottles and cartridges Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Kaweco Sport (EF/F/M/B/1.9), Kanwrite with an Ahab nib Description It is my understanding that the inks were originally made by Rohrer and Klingner and used the same bottles. However, the packaging has changed and now the inks come in 30 ml bottles. What surprised me was the amount of ink still stuck in the transparent section of the Pilot Kakuno after it had been soaking in water for three days. It needed a pen flush to remove it. It’s no biggie in my book, but it might be for some. I personally would not appreciate receiving a letter written in this ink with an EF nib.  😉 However, I enjoyed using this ink for art projects. The ink is very well-behaved and works well on copy paper with most nibs. If you want a slig...

Kakimori — Tototo — Ink Review #90

Kakimori — Tototo   Ink Review #  90   Originally posted on FPN:  Oct 11, 2023   Ink:  Tototo Brand:  Kakimori Type:  Pigment ink Country:  Japan Availability:  35 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy Safari (EF, F, M, B) Description Kakimori describes this ink as such: " Tototo is the gentle melody of a special rosé poured in quiet company. A colour to elevate everyday life or celebrate a special occasion. Our original inks are inspired by Japanese word play and imagery. Listen to the colourful conversations of dripping ink  " I used to love the Kakimori line with their appealing bottles and whimsical names. As writing inks I cannot recommend them anymore, mostly because of their long dry times, ironically on Japanese paper. However, as artist inks they are fabulous. They're easy to clean and waterproof. If you buy the inks directly from their website, you can choose aluminum or wooden caps instead of the stand...

J Herbin — Rouge Grenat (Garnet Red)   Ink Review #  89   Originally posted on FPN:  Oct 8, 2023   Ink:  Rouge Grenat (Garnet Red) Brand:  J Herbin Country:  France Availability:  10 ml & 30 ml bottles. 6-Pack cartridges Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Stub, Kaweco Sport (EF/F/M/B), Osmiroid Copperplate nib Description I mixed up the words Grenade and Grenat (Pomegranate vs Garnet). You'll see a lot of pomegranates in my sketches  — typical me. Sorry for the confusion. I corrected it, thanks to @Lithium466. Still, I decided to keep the photo: It's kind of cool and the garnets resemble the pomegranate seeds. As much as I love the colour in real life, it does not sing to me. Maybe I don’t like red inks and that is it.
