Rohrer & Klingner — Sepia   Ink Review #  47   Originally posted on FPN:  Feb 25, 2023   Ink:  Sepia Brand:  Rohrer & Klingner Country:  Germany Availability:  50 ml bottles Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno (EF/M/stub), Lamy Safari (F, M, B), Kanwrite ultra-flex, Jinhao 450 fude Description I had the opportunity to do a blind test on the FPGeeks website. It’s not an ink which encourages me to rhapsodize, searching for weird inky metaphors, or rushing to order a bottle. No, none of the above. But I was surprised how it grew on me with its simplicity, its water resistance and enjoyable tactile experience; each time the nib glided on the paper it made my heart sing. Often when I finish an ink review, I cannot wait to flush out the old ink and try a new one. But in this case, I stalled, enjoying every drop of my sample.  Give it a try, and you might be surprised. Private Reserve — 2 Minutes to Midnight - Limited Edition   Ink Review #  46   Originally posted on FPN:  Feb 22, 2023   Ink:  2 Minutes to Midnight - Limited Edition Brand:  Private Reserve Country:  USA Availability:  110 ml bottles Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno (EF, M, stub), Lamy Safari (F, M, B), Kanwrite ultra-flex, Jinhao 450 fude Description This is a limited edition ink and it comes in special bottles. I had a chance to blind test this limited-edition ink on the FPGeeks website. It's great fun and a privilege to test inks in this fashion. It's you and the ink: no preconceived idea about the brand, the country or the name.  It’s a rich dark blue, wet and well lubricated. It’s supposed to trigger deep thoughts in the ink user, close to midnight! As I live in the city and rarely can observe the stars, and I am never awake at midnight, I guess this ink is not for me.  😉 For those who like well-behaved inks and don’t tolerate a...

Wearingeul - Miguel de Cervantes - Don Quixote Ink Review #  45 Originally posted on FPN:  Feb 21, 2023 Ink:  Miguel de Cervantes - Don Quixote Brand:  Wearingeul Country:  South Korea Availability:  30 ml bottle. Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno (EF, M, stub), Lamy Safari (F, M. B), Kanwrite ultra-flex, Jinhao 450 fude. Description I had the chance to do a blind test of this ink on another fountain pen site. This is my first Wearingeul ink. The ink is extremely dry and the flow rate is questionable. This ink is for anyone who loves pale inks, uses wet pens with soft nibs (ideally broad), uses thick absorbent paper, admires Don Quixote fighting windmills, or enjoys writing letters to people you want to annoy with the finest nib possible. Chroma However, check the beautiful chroma. Writing Samples (scan) As this was a mystery ink, the quotes are not necessarily from Don Quixote. De Atramentis — Artist Sepia   Ink Review #  44   Originally posted on FPN:  Feb 4, 2023   Ink:  Artist Sepia Series:  Artist Type:  Pigment ink Brand:  De Atramentis Country:  Germany Availability:  50 ml bottles Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno (EF, M, stub), Lamy Safari (F, M, B), Kanwrite ultra-flex (wet), Jinhao 450 fude (wet) Description This ink belongs to the Artist series and is slightly less lightfast than the Document series. In a nutshell: I would recommend this ink only to those who use either B nibs or wet, soft F and M nibs, preferably on excellent, smooth paper. For those who don't use these options, mindfulness is obligatory. 😇 Longwinded version: This is a high-maintenance ink in a nonconventional way: It demands the right nib, paper combination! The Pilot Kakuno EF wrote with a smoothness of fingernails on a chalkboard. The perfect self-torture implement. The stub was like writing with a blunt knife. With the Lamy S...
