Diamine Master of Puppets (German Exclusive) Ink Review # 169 Originally posted on FPN: Jan 29, 2025 Ink:  Master of Puppets Brand:  Diamine Country:  United Kingdom; German exclusive. Availability:  30 ml and 80 ml bottles from  Fountainfeder , Papier & Stift, and Sakura Fountain Pen Gallery. Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy Safari (EF / F / M / B / Stub 1.1), Osmiroid Copperplate. 🧾  Description This is another German exclusive from fountainfeder: a burgundy ink with heavy murky green / gold sheen, most visible on Midori and Tomoe River 68 gsm. You will see only a few gold specks on Iroful and Rhodia unless you pour the ink on the paper. If you want sheen, use a wet pen and Japanese paper. There is no water resistance, so it is suitable for ephemeral thoughts. The ink is named after Metallica's song. The theme is the master, whether drugs, addictions, inks, or anything else, controlling the human puppet. I could not appreciate the music, but I ...

Pelikan Edelstein — Star Ruby   Ink Review #  145   Originally posted on FPN:  Sep 12, 2024   Ink:  Star Ruby Brand:  Pelikan Edelstein Country:  Germany Availability:  50 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Lamy (Reverse EF/EF/ F/ M/ B, 1.1) Kanwrite Flex. Description This is a very, very wet, hot pink-fuchsia. It has the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Surprisingly, it’s very well-behaved on copy paper, but there was some bleed-through with reverse EF, EF, F, and flex nibs on Iroful.  The broader the nib, the lighter the colour. There is minimal shading, even on Iroful, which can enhance the shading of other inks.  The ink has no water resistance. As it's pink, it's a pain to clean, but it has surprisingly fast dry times on Rhodia. There is a hint of gold sheen when applied liberally on paper. If you like wet inks, flashy colours, and dream of rubies, this is for you Chroma Writing Samples I’ve added Iroful paper to the lineup. Even with Iro...

Private Reserve Vampire Red — Ink Review #141

Private Reserve Vampire Red   Ink Review #  141   Originally posted on FPN:  Aug 21, 2024   Ink:  Vampire Red Brand:   Private Reserve  Country:  USA Availability:  60 ml bottles and cartridges.  Pens Used:  Lamy (Reverse EF, EF, F, M, B, 1.1), Noodler’s Nib creaper. Description According to the Private Reserve website, it’s a “deep, intense brown with red tone.” To me, it’s the gorgeous colour of a 50-year-old rusted water pipe, with strong shading and a hint of gold sheen on Iroful paper. The sheen disappears over time. It is not a colour I would associate with vampires, unless they’re into ultra-processed oxidized blood. 🧛‍♂️🧛‍♀️ This ink is a snob. It thoroughly dislikes cheap paper and loves water to excess; it disintegrates with a drop of water. If you have Diamine’s Ancient Copper or J. Herbin Café des Îles, you probably won’t need this one. I was afraid the ink had stained the Lamy converter, but after a few flushes, ...
