J. Herbin — Ambre de Birmanie — Ink Review #96
J Herbin — Ambre de Birmanie Ink Review # 96 Originally posted on FPN: Nov 12, 2023 Ink: Ambre de Birmanie Brand: J Herbin Country: France Availability: cartridges, 10 ml and 30 ml bottles. Pens Used: Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy Safari (EF, F, M, B, 1.1), Waterman W2 Description This is a gorgeous, golden-honey, warm and legible ink. Writing with it made my heart sing, despite its idiosyncrasies. It’s a dryish ink with a confusing flow. When I filled the pen, it was wet, very wet. But over time, the flow became dry. I never thought to say this about a Herbin ink, but it needs a well-sealed pen; otherwise, one might have start-up issues. Not surprisingly, it doesn't like copy paper at all. It has decent water resistance. Despite all its shortcomings, I'm glad I have a 10 ml bottle of it.
