Sailor Shikiori Sasabune   Ink Review # 226   Originally posted on FPN: Feb 05, 2026 --- 🧾  Description   Ink:  Sailor Shikiori Sasabune Available:  20 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Osmiroid Copperplate nib ,  Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1)   Many thanks to @lithium446  for this sample. I am smitten by this ink.    It’s a pale, legible, muted green.    I absolutely love everything about this ink, the gentle shading, hue and how it inspired me to explore Japanese ethos & poetry though art.     The ink surprisingly tames the scratchy ultra-extra-fine nib of my Osmiroid, but it was slightly scratchy with the Lamy Safari. If you have wet pens and soft nibs, it would be a better match.   The shading is gorgeous. This is an ink for @namre.    I won’t recommend it for copy paper; you’ll have some show/bleed-through.    If I didn’t already have enough greens in this shade, I would...

Lennon Tool Bar Shi Shi Zi   Ink Review # 202   Originally posted on FPN:  Sep 10, 2025   ---   🧾  Description   Ink:  Shi Shi Zi Brand:  Lennon Tool Bar Country:  Taiwan Available:  30 ml bottles worldwide. Pens Used:  Pilot F3A EF/Semi-flex, Lamy (EF/F/M/B), Jinhao 450 fude nib.    Shi Shi Zi is a pale, high-shading, green-grey ink, named after the protective lions in front of Chinese temples.    It’s part of the 2024 Summer Guardian Beasts limited edition, which includes Bixi, Komainu, and Feng Shi Ye.    Flow and lubrication are lacking, water resistance is dubious, and you’ll have bleed-through and show-through on thin copy paper.    If you want it to be legible, you’ll need a wet pen.    According to ChatGPT: “ Founded in 2014 in Tamsui, Taiwan, Lennon Tool Bar ( 藍濃道具屋 ) takes its name from ‘lán nóng’—meaning rich indigo—and ‘dào jù wū’—meaning workshop or tool sho...

Diamine Celadon Cat — Ink Review #153

Diamine — Celadon Cat   Ink Review #  153   Originally posted on FPN:  Oct 14, 2024   Ink:  Celadon Cat Brand:  Diamine Country:  United Kingdom Availability:  30 ml plastic /80 ml glass bottles. Pens Used:  Pilot Elite EF, Lamy (EF/F/M/B,1.1), Waterman W2 flex Description Disclaimer:  My initial review of this ink was as harsh as my review of Jacques Herbin, Les toits de Paris as both are quite similar and that I don't particularly appreciate washed-out inks. But with time, it grew on me, especially for drawing. So read this review with a pinch of salt and make up your own mind. A dryish green-grey by Diamine designed by r/fountainpens on Reddit. I wanted to review this after Jacques Herbin Les toits de Paris. These two inks are very similar, the former leaning green, the latter, blue. Both need soft, smooth nibs and are paper-dependant. I would say Celadon Cat is slightly more lubricated. Personally, I hated the writing experience...

Kakimori — Soyo — Ink Review #61

Kakimori — Soyo   Ink Review #  61   Originally posted on FPN:  May 12, 2023   Ink:  Soyo Type:  Pigment ink Brand:  Kakimori Country:  Japan Availability:  35 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Pilot Elite (EF/stub), Lamy Safari (EF, F, M, B), Kanwrite ultra-flex nib, Jinhao 450 fude nib. Description According to Kakimori, " Soyo is like a breath of fresh air. A colour that evokes the feeling of a pleasant breeze." This is my least favorite ink by Kakimori, mostly because of its paleness and lack of lubrication. You would need a cushiony nib to enjoy the writing experience. Otherwise, it's scratchy with finer nibs and dry times are quite long, especially with Japanese paper. On the plus side, the ink is well-behaved on copy paper. On the negative side it is mostly illegible.  I would say it can be used for journaling with wide or cushiony nibs, preferably on thick absorbent papers, or for fountain pen art.  Note on pigment inks: ...
