Jacques Herbin Rouille d’Ancre   Ink Review # 245   Originally posted on FPN: May 13, 2026   --- 🧾  Description   Ink: Rouille D’ancre (rusty anchor) Brand: Jacques Herbin  Country: France Availability: 10/30 ml bottles and international short ink cartridges.  Pens Used: Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1), Noodler’s Ahab with a FPR ultra-flex.   Jacques Herbin (formerly J Herbin) Rouille d’ancre is a pleasing salmon colour, wet, with slightly to below average lubrication. The colour, while legible, would best shine with a wet, soft nib.    Ink is not suited for copy paper. It has decent water resistance.    This is a colour that has grown on me. The more I use it, the more I like it.  ---   🧪  Chroma --- ✍️  Writing Samples  (photos LED and daylight)   Translations from language are provided for reference only and may differ from published versions.   Rhodia dotpad Reason is...

Robert Oster Smoke Screen   Ink Review # 244   Originally posted on FPN: May 07, 2026   --- 🧾  Description   Ink:  Smokescreen Brand:  Robert Oster Country:  Australia Availability: 50 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Kaweco (EF/F/M/B/BB, stub 1.1, 1.9), Noodler’s Ahab with FPR ultra-flex, Hongdian Long blade nib (similar to a Naginata Togi)   This is an unusual colour and difficult to describe. It hovers somewhere between grey, maroon and purple, depending on what paper it is used on.    The wetter and narrower the nib, the darker and more blackish the ink appears; with wider nibs, the colour becomes lighter and more complex.   While not the best ink on copy paper, the colour was a very pleasing grey, making it a good candidate for thick, absorbent papers such as that used in Peter Pauper notebooks.    Dry times are decent on Rhodia; lubrication is pen-dependent and hovers around average to slightl...

Jacques Herbin Orange Indien   Ink Review # 243   Originally posted on FPN: Apr 30, 2026   --- 🧾  Description   Ink:  Orange Indien (Indian Orange) Brand:  Jacques Herbin Country:  France Availability:  10 ml, 30ml, 100 ml bottles; Cartridges.    Pens Used:  Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1), Vintage Sailor flex.      As of this date all Les Perles des Encres, J Herbin inks are marketed as Jacques Herbin.    This is a bright reddish orange, with subtle shading. It doesn’t like copy paper and will bleed through it, but it has very decent water resistance. Dry times can be from short to long depending on the wetness of the pen, nib size and paper.   Cleaning was surprisingly easy.    Overall, I was happily surprised by the ink’s decent behaviour and colour, even though orange ain’t my colour.    ---   🧪  Chroma   ---   ✍️  Writing Sa...
