Pens Used: Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy Safari (EF, F, M, B, 1.1), Kanwrite with an Ahab nib

Description

This was the first ink in a five-ink blind test on the FPGeeks website. 

It is one of the most intriguing blue-blacks I’ve ever tested, bordering on grey. The color is refined and elegant. However, it’s not for those people who love smooth, cushiony writing. 

There’s a hint of turquoise in the chroma.

Ink Characteristics

What I liked: Gorgeous colour.

What I did not like: Price; Name, I would never remember it.

What some might not like: It’s not for people who love smooth, well-lubricated inks.

Shading: More prominent from M nibs above.

Ghosting: Yes, on cheap paper.

Bleed through: Yes, on cheap paper.

Flow Rate: Ok.

Lubrication: Below average.

Nib Dry-out: Did not notice.

Start-up: Ok.

Saturation: Dark.

Shading Potential: It has some potential.

Sheen: No.

Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: Did not notice.

Nib Creep / “Crud”: Did not notice.

Staining (pen): No.

Clogging: Did not notice.

Cleaning: The Kakuno was a breeze, the Lamy needed a cleaning solution.

Water resistance: Decent.

Jacques Herbin — Bistro Parisien   Ink Review # 266   Ink:  Bistro Parisien Series:  Couleurs de Paris (Colors of Paris) Brand:  Jacques Herbin Country:  France Availability:  10 ml, 30 ml bottles.  Pens Used:  Osmiroid Copperplate EEF flex, Lamy Safari (EF, F, M, B, 1.1) Description This is one of three new inks added to the  Couleurs de Paris  collection.  It’s a tribute to the Parisian bistros. I got my sample from Fountainfeder in Germany.  With a dry pen it’s a lovely, luminous red, with a wet pen it is a lovely red-black with gorgeous shading. It has no water resistance. It made my Osmiroid nib sing; however, with Lamy nibs the lubrication was slightly below-average to excellent, depending on the nib size. At dusk she grieves; then come wind and rain. Heedless of envious flowers, with no desire to compete, Her blooms ravaged and trampled in mud, ground to dust, only her fragrance lingers unchanged.
