Ink Institute - Cat at Noon   Ink Review # 19   Originally posted on FPN:  Jul 20, 2021   Ink:  Cat at Noon Brand:  Ink Institute Country:  Taiwan Availability:  Only in 30 ml bottles Pens Used:  Noodler’s Ahab semi-flex, Lamy Safari B   Description I got this ink on a whim. I have nothing to compare it with. It's very pale, almost transparent pink. The bright color was a drop of ink that never got absorbed by the paper. This ink has flow issues. Lamy did not like it; I had to prime it often. For Ahab, after a couple of days, it was acceptable. The writing experience was akin to writing with water. I use quite a bit of iron gall inks, Essri is Sailor Doyou compared to this one.  😄 The nib got caught in the paper fibers due to lack of lubrication. Pity. The color is a lovely, almost golden orange-salmon. The one good experience I had was sketching, when there was ink flow. This color would probably be very nice in a room but not for...

Noodler's — Recreant Rhinoceros (RINO)   Ink Review # 18   Originally posted on FPN:  Jul 18, 2021   Ink:  Recreant Rhinoceros (RINO) Type:  Bulletproof Brand:  Noodler's Country:  USA Availability:  Discontinued Pens Used:  Noodler’s Ahab / Lamy Safari B/ Reverse B Description The name of this ink is intended to provoke. A marketing gimmick. Pity, as the ink is complex enough to stand on its own. But we’re not here to debate politics but to enjoy the creativity and diversity of inks. I was attracted to it because of its chameleon quality. It writes grey-black and dries into a green-teal, depending on the paper. It is wet, with excellent lubrication and very water-resistant.  I don’t have any ink to compare with. The wet ink is grey-black and dries to different shades of the green-teal spectrum.   Noodler's — Akhmatova   Ink Review # 17   Originally posted on FPN:  Jul 15, 2021   Ink:  Akhmatova Series:  Russian Series Type:  Bulletproof Brand:  Noodler's Country:  USA Availability:  3 oz, 90 ml bottles.  Pens Used:  Noodler’s Ahab semi-flex, Lamy Safari B, Jinhao M Description Named after the great Russian poetess Anna Akhmatova: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Akhmatova The ink reflects well Akhmatova's soul: a deep melancholy, recalling that of coniferous forests in the deep of the winter. This is one of the best, if not the best, eternal inks I have ever tried. The ink is so well-lubricated that it makes the pen glide on the paper. I could buy this ink for the tactility of it. The ink is eternal, bulletproof, fluorescent. The shading is best experienced on white and bright paper. Dry time is super-fast. Cleaning was easy.  Chroma Writing Samples Midori Lamy Safari Reverse B Lamy Safari B & Ahab sem...

Rohrer & Klingner — sketchINK® Klara   Ink Review # 16   Originally posted on FPN:  Jul 13, 2021   Ink:  Klara Series:  sketchINK® Type:  Pigment ink Brand:  Rohrer & Klingner Country:  Germany Availability:  50 ml bottles. Pens Used:  Noodler’s Ahab semi-flex, Kanwrite ultra-flex, Pilot Varsity   Description This is a searing green-blue, waterproof, lightproof ink, which is very difficult to scan and photograph. I recommend using sunglasses to read this review 🕶️ I would use this ink mostly for editing and annotating or mixing with other inks in the sketchINK series. I’ve used this ink in a Pilot Varsity for many years since this review. There are often startup problems.  Note on pigment inks:  Pigmented fountain pen inks are best used in well-sealed pens that are easy to dismantle. Regular cleaning is advisable, and pen flush may be needed if water alone is not enough. Chroma   Writing Samples I amused...
